Compression buffers are welded directly to the chassis, rather than the reaframe and are designed to absorb harsh impacts.
This design reduces the impact effect on the rear-frame.
Typically, compression buffers are fitted with sacrifical nylon faces which are easy to replace and work well with dock buffers.
