Safe Coupling System Wins Motor Transport Awards (Innovation)
Don-Bur, in conjunction with DHL Supply Chain, are delighted to receive the industry's highest accolade for its' Safe Coupling System, winning first place for the Innovation Category at this years Motor Transport Awards.
The "Safe Coupling System" is a ground coupling system, designed and manufactured by Don-Bur, which eliminates the need for a driver to access the area between the cab and trailer during the coupling process; negating the risks normally associated with catwalks.
After having already won the Innovation Award at the SHP IOSH awards in 2010, quoted as "An excellent solution to a very real problem", Don-Bur has since produced hundreds of units for DHL, B&Q, Lafarge, National Grid, Vickers, Citylink and many others.
At the Motor Transport Awards, judges looked for evidence of how creative thinking was applied to solve a problem. Entrants had to show what the problem or issue was, how the innovation solution was arrived at and how it delivered significant benefits.

"This is a fabulous recognition for a pro-active innovation in the industry. This was a project that was realised by Don-Bur for the whole industry and not just DHL". (Russell Clark, SHE Director, DHL Supply Chain)
Judges Comments: "A great practical innovation with clear safety benefits. Anything that improves safety is a winning innovation".
Don-Bur are obviously thrilled with the recognition and attribute the success to their ongoing development ethos. Dave Burton, Managing Director of Don-Bur says "The Safe Coupling System is a simple solution to an age-old problem. It is another example of our innovative approach to transport solutions and we will continue to work with our clients to develop the most efficient and productive systems."
