Feature Detail: DeckStreamer
Double Decks are undeniably the most efficient method for trunking goods; however, due to increased height, they also use more fuel and DON-BUR introduced the EcoStream several years ago to combat this (Sloping front roof section over the swan-neck). Despite the recognised 10-18% fuel saving attributable to the EcoStream, there is an unavoidable loss of load-space. For those operators who are normally able to max-fill the area over the swan-neck, an EcoStream profile lowers the maximum potential.
The DeckStreamer is a new, aerodynamic front bulkhead deflector, designed specifically for use on Double Deck trailers that allows operators to retain the max cube. The GRP mould was designed and manufactured in-house using the latest aerodynamic technology and 3D flow analysis.

Previous "domes", which have been applied to the front of double decks are usually adaptations of standard bulkhead deflectors; however, the nature of airflow in this area (due to difference in height between cab-top deflector and trailer roof) is significantly different from that of a standard trailer and needs alternative consideration.
Aerodynamic Features
- Maximum fill to 2040mm swing radius
- Vortex generators
- Prevents down-flow of air from cab-top deflector
- Central fin to reduce cross-flow
- Edges curl round front corner cappings to minimise air seperation
- Available for new build or as retro-fit

3rd Party Trials
A major high street fashion retailer trialled the DeckStreamer in comparison to an identical Double Deck without the DeckStreamer dome attachment.
| Base Trailer mpg | DeckStreamer mpg | Variance | % Saving | |
| 7.72 | 10.12 | 2.4 | 31.09 | |
| 8.1 | 9.2 | 1.1 | 13.58 | |
| 8.51 | 9.15 | 0.64 | 7.52 | |
| 8.1 | 8.97 | 0.87 | 10.74 | |
| 8.83 | 8.55 | -0.28 | -3.17 | |
| Average | 8.252 | 9.198 | 0.946 | 11.46 |
Following the trials, the retailer carried out a retro-fit on all existing Double Decks and specified the DeckStreamer for all new builds.
